Historical Signature at El Faro Hotel
ALGHERO – Historical signature this afternoon in Alghero, at El Faro Hotel in Porto Conte, among the President of the Region of Sardinia, Renato Soru, the Mediterranean Coast Ambassadors and the Representatives of the United Nations Environmental Program for the Mediterranean from Italy, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Turkey, Lebanon, Spain, France, Syria, Jordan, Great Britain, Greece, Israel and Croatia.
The Chart of Intent called “Sardinia Declaration” was adepte: its objective is to create a network among the National Governments, the local authorities, the Non-Governmenta Organisations (NGOs), the Universities and the entrepreneurial sector to promote the integrated coastal zone management as an operational instrument for the Mediterranean sustainable development. The “Sardinia Declaration” is fundamental for the implementation of the principles contained in the Madrid Protocol (January 2008). The Chart adoption takes place on the occasion of the European Sea Day, that the European Union Countries celebrate today for the first time in history.
